"Home is where my whānau is. I've been here just over 20 years - it's a really easy village to live in."


"When we got here it was a really easy place to rent and raise your children as a single mum. It was affordable and obtainable. I thjnk that's really changed. "


"In the years I have lived here I have seen many whānau had to leave - prices were going up and they were not able to pay those rents - $600 a week to raise a family. A lot of people can't afford to buy here.


"It's been sad to see all those old school roots people... [not afford] to stay. Those people belong here - they are 'Paekākāriki Foundation people'."
